ICOYACA Marks 5 Years of Impact: Digital Unveiling of Anniversary Logo Signals a Bright Future for African Youth

In a momentous celebration of perseverance and progress, the Independent Continental Youth Advisory Council on AfCFTA (ICOYACA) today digitally unveiled its specially designed 5-Year Anniversary Logo. This isn't just a visual refresh, it's a powerful emblem of the council's unwavering commitment to amplifying Africa's young voices in the transformative landscape of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Founded five years ago with a visionary mandate, ICOYACA has grown into a beacon of hope and action for the continent's youth. From advocating for inclusive trade policies to empowering thousands of emerging leaders through workshops, mentorship programs, and strategic initiatives, the council has dismantled barriers and fostered intra-African economic collaboration like never before. "Our journey has been one of bold innovation and unbreakable unity," says Emolot Allan David, our Chairperson. "This logo encapsulates our triumphs and ignites our passion for the road ahead."

The new commemorative design is a masterpiece of symbolism: At its heart lies the iconic outline of the African continent, seamlessly integrated with a gleaming golden "5" to honor our half-decade of dedication. Encircling this fusion is a laurel wreath, evoking victory, growth, and the boundless potential of Africa's next generation. Crafted with modern elegance, the logo reflects ICOYACA's core values, resilience in the face of challenges, innovation in policy-making, and unity in driving prosperity for all.

Over the past five years, ICOYACA's impact has been profound and far-reaching:

  • Empowering Youth Leaders: We've trained and mentored over 5,000 young entrepreneurs, equipping them with skills to influence AfCFTA implementation, and equiped over 100,000 young trade enthusiats with the AfCFTA information.
  • Policy Influence: Our meaningful contribution i.e., from the brainstorming session to recoomending key provisions, contributed to the development of the Protocol of Woemn and Youth in Trade that was adopted in 2014. Additionally,  our advisory efforts have shaped key discussions on trade barriers, digital economy integration, and sustainable development, contributing to real-world changes in intra-African commerce.
  • Breaking Barriers: By prioritizing youth inclusion, we've bridged gaps in education, entrepreneurship, and economic participation, paving the way for a more equitable Africa.

As we celebrate, ICOYACA is more energized than ever to champion youth-driven solutions that accelerate Africa's rise on the global stage. This anniversary isn't just a look back, it's a call to action for partners, stakeholders, and fellow changemakers to join us in building a thriving, interconnected continent.
